Rock and Soul Retreat

This retreat is focused entirely on the adventure side of things:
rockhounding, night Yooperlite hunting, and stargazing along Michigan’s most stunning shoreline.
This trip is a 3-night trip, based in Paradise, MI, and priced at $700 per person. That includes:
• 3 nights of lodging
• Group dinner each night
• A guided Yooperlite night hunt
• Time to clean, shine, and learn about your finds
• Skyline watching, watching for northern lights and space to unwind with like-minded folks
It’s simple, soulful, and all about the rocks, the stars, sky and the magic of the Upper Peninsula.
Let me know if you want in—spots are limited, and I’d love to have you on the shore with us 🌌🪨✨

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Polish Rocks and Prepare for Dinner (I will have a cab machine for polishing and a lapidary saw, just in case we want to take a peek inside our rocks)
Spend a couple of hours polishing the rocks you've collected. This calming activity not only brightens your finds but also prepares you for a cozy dinner. Use this time to also start setting up or prepping for dinner.
6:00 PM: Dinner and Continue Polishing Rocks
Enjoy a well-deserved dinner while continuing to polish your rocks. This is a perfect opportunity to share stories of the day's finds and appreciate the natural beauty you've discovered.
9:00 PM: Head Back to the Beach for Yooperlite Hunting and Skyline Watching
As night falls, return to the beach equipped with UV flashlights for hunting Yooperlites—those glowing stones unique to the region. Stay afterward to watch the stars and take in the serene nighttime skyline.
You will be able to do the hunting you want to and stay back and relax when it suits you.
For a rockhounding trip to the Upper Peninsula (UP), come prepared with the following essentials:
Sturdy footwear: Durable hiking boots or shoes with good grip for rocky and uneven terrain.
Clothing: Layered clothing including long sleeves and pants to protect against sun, wind, and insects. Waterproof jacket is recommended due to variable weather. (Mosquitos during dusk and dawn can be heavy)
Bug spray: Essential for keeping mosquitoes and other insects at bay, especially in wooded and damp areas. (Mosquitos can swarm)
Gloves: Heavy-duty gloves to protect hands while breaking rocks or handling sharp specimens.
Rock hammer and chisels: Specialty tools for extracting specimens from rock formations.
Safety goggles: Eye protection from flying rock chips during hammering. (I will have for rock polishing)
Backpack: To carry tools, finds, water, snacks, and other gear comfortably.
Container or bags: Sturdy boxes or cloth bags to safely hold collected rocks and minerals.
Water and snacks: Stay hydrated and energized throughout your outing. (We will have bread and sandwiches but if you like certain snacks and drinks, please bring things for yourself as well.)
Field guide or identification book: Useful for recognizing local minerals and rocks. (I WILL HAVE SOME OF THESE)
Camera or smartphone: To document interesting finds and locations.
First aid kit: For minor injuries and emergencies. (I WILL HAVE ONE)
Map and compass or GPS device: Ensure you can navigate remote areas safely. Please download offline maps with google so you can navigate without internet or wifi or cell connection. There are many places that do not have cell connection.
